We're safe

Well our trip to the Taj Mahal has been canceled due to the hostage situation and such in Bombay. We are quite a ways away from there but we thought it's better to be safe than sorry. No one worry, we are being taken care of by the host family who is putting together the wedding here. Will update soon

  1. Thanks for your post, i was glad to talk to you even if it was for 2minutes Rachel. I talked to the state dept of international services and they said they are targeting Americans and westerners and to remember to lay low and if you have any trouble to call 888-407-4747 for any concerns or emergencies. Also the lady i spoke with said to also contact the embassy for help if necessary. There is news that the antiterriorist leader of India was murdered there today. So sad that so many innocent people are being terriorized as we speak so be careful and keep us all posted. Hope the wedding is nice and that you are still able to enjoy. Take lots of pics and text me if you need me to research anything and i will do anything i can to help. Check because some flights have been cancelled up to 3 from now so plans may have to be changed. Let me know! oxoxoxo Mom

  2. First i have to comment and speak to terror of watching CNN and learnig that gunmen had taken hostages, and many were already dead. You don't miss your water till you think it's gone. I was so freaking out and then happy to hear Rebeccas sleepy voice telling me you were both safe. You must have had a lot calls because she sounded like she had been saying "we are fine" for a while. I have enjoyed checking in on you guys from time to time by this blog. Some fine writting...mighty fine i must say. Will you figure out how to bring me one of those monkeys? Im at freds house for Thanksgiving and we are having Indian food. Not the traditional turkey. Today just gave us a reason to get together for food and laughing. Continue to look out for each other. Wish i was there.
    Infinite love,
    Jimmy

  4. Rachel and Rebecca,

Next time we hear from you please tell us what city, town you are in so we can find you on the map. I found just now that because of the unrest in India the American Airlines are offering you with no penalty flights back to America right away. Please check this out and think about it and let us know if you decide to do that as it seems the situation has gotten worse. Hopefully it stays in Mumbai and doesn't expand around the country but the United States and Pres Bush and Obama have sent FBI there etc...so much to tell but wanted you to know about the airlines change if you want to take advantage of that. Just praying for you safety. Grandpa and Grandma said to tell you they are keeping track of you and this blog and they love you. Hope you Thanksgiving was somewhat enjoyable. We all have so much to be thankful for, especially that we are blessed to live in America and that we have freedom and wonderful family and friends. Love you so much! Mom

  6. Rachel, it was good to read your latest post - too long ago though! Look into the early flight option! Had a nice Thanksgiving with Pam, Chris, Jess and all. Patti's McKylie is doing a bit better after being life-flighted to Primary Childrens' Hospital - she aspirated and is struggling with her lungs, breathing, etc. She's doing a bit better every day, but life is so fragile for her. We saw a special on India and how some families struggle every day to make enough $ to buy fresh vegitables to suppliment their daily rice intake and how prices keep going up with VERY high inflation and there day jobs - these ladies were house maids - are not keeping up with rising food costs. Can't war to see you and know it's hard to post daily, but any word helps. It may not hurt to dress Indian!? Love, Uncle Gregg
